HDFC Regalia Credit Card Review
For many years, the HDFC Bank Regalia Credit Card has been one of the most popular premium credit cards in the country. Most of today’s premium credit cards were created in response to the legendary card’s popularity.
However, it has recently lost its reputation and popularity as a result of a succession of devaluations, but HDFC has now introduced a new set of perks to restore it to its former glory.
Let’s take a look at this card in its most recent incarnation, because my prior review is very old. It’s important to remember that this is the Original Regalia, not the Regalia First, which is one level below it.
Table of Contents
Examine the main points.
Card Joining Fee | Rs.2,500 (Easy to get First year free) |
Card Renewal Fee | Rs.2,500 |
Renewal Fee Waiver | Rs. 3 Lakh Annual Spend |
Regali Card Variants | Regalia, Doctor’s Regalia, Business Regalia, Corporate Regalia |
Minimum Limit can be Provided | Rs.2 Lakhs |

Reward Points Evaluation.
Reward Rate offered by Default
• 1 RP Equals 0.50 INR (when redeemed on the regalia portal) • 4 RP for every 150 INR spent on retail
• Reward Rate: 1.3 Percentage Points Based on Spend
• Gain 10,000 Reward Points every year spending of Rs. 5,00,000 or more in each anniversary year
• Earn 15,000 Reward Points on annual spends of Rs. 8,00,000 or more in each anniversary year
So, if you spend 8 lakhs in a year, you may earn a reward rate as high as 2.2 percent – which is fine, but I wish they had built it to attain the previous reward rate of 2 percent.
Offers of 5X/10X
Here’s where the HDFC Regalia credit card really shines. HDFC sometimes conducts promotions with various merchants that give you 2x/5x/10x the standard points, thereby double the reward rate.
Years ago, I was lucky enough to gain 27,500 Reward Points in a month, but now that they’ve lowered the upper bar on most offers, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to stack up points like in the past.
Although Business Variant has its own set of 10X partners, higher caps may be found elsewhere!

Rewards Redemption
All of the aforementioned reward rates are only achievable when points are used for travel bookings (flights/hotels). You’ll lose a lot of money if you decide to use your points for shopping or other catalog vouchers.
The redemption process is simple, and I’ve used Regalia Points to plan a vacation to Vietnam, saving around 25,000 INR.
Review of the application.
• New Application: Annual Income >$12 Lakh (Branch/Online)
• HDFC Preferred Banking: If you’ve been on Preferred Banking for more than 6 months and have a decent Balance/AQB, you’ll have a better chance of getting Regalia if the following criteria aren’t satisfied.
• Upgrade: Spending limits of more than 3 lakh on an existing HDFC card (Regalia First/Allmiles) will be beneficial.

HDFC Regalia Credit Card Rating
4 out of 5 stars

HDFC Regalia is without a doubt one of our generation’s best credit cards. It’s so well-known that airport lounge employees recognize it when you mention “Regalia” instead of Visa Signature or MasterCard. Hundreds of Regalia Cardholders would have swiped their cards to gain admission to the lounge. While the Regalia with a good reward rate is nice at the moment, it might be much better if the default reward rate was increased a little higher.
Our Opinion.
Regalia is a premium point-based credit card that was for a long time HDFC’s top premium card before the debut of other products such as the Diner Black Credit Card. Regalia is nevertheless important since it is less expensive than other premium cards and offers nearly all of the benefits that the bank’s other cards do, albeit in a more limited way.
This premium credit card is great for folks who like to travel by air, purchase online (ideally via foreign websites because of the foreign currency markup benefits), and dine out.
