Twitter is about to have a new CEO. Jack Dorsey will be replaced by Indian-origin Parag Agrawal, who is presently the chief technological officer (CTO) of Twitter. Dorsey made the news in an internal memo to Twitter staff. Parag Agrawal confirmed the news to all Twitter workers shortly after Dorsey’s email.

Parag Agarwal Early Life
“When Parag took the JEE test, he finished all of the questions he knew in the first 40 minutes and then proceeded to beg for more supplements. However, the invigilator said that no more supplements were planned. He returned to his seat and read the instructions, which said, “Tie all the supplements in the exact sequence.” He returned to the invigilator and informed her that she needed to place an order for supplements. He came out upset that he had wasted valuable time because of it,” says Praveen Tyagi, a teacher who coached him for the IIT-JEE in 2000.
Agrawal placed 77th in the IIT joint admission tests and was accepted into the IIT-Bombay computer science department. Professor Supratim Biswas, the previous head of IIT-computer B’s science and engineering department, remembered him as a bright student. “He took two courses with me and graduated as the department topper, if my memory serves me well,” he told TOI.
Agrawal left IIT-B after graduation and earned a PhD in computer science from Stanford University, thus nothing is known about him. Agrawal is now in his early forties, and his mother was a schoolteacher while his father worked in atomic energy.
Following Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai’s appointments as CEOs of Microsoft and Google in the first decade of the new millennium, Parag Agrawal has taken on one of the most high-profile (and often high-pressure) roles after Twitter founder Jack Dorsey announced his departure and named him as his successor.
Pawan Agrawal’s previous company
Formerly a researcher at Microsoft, Yahoo, and AT&T Labs, he joined Twitter as a software engineer in October 2011 and was promoted to chief technology officer in October 2017, according to his LinkedIn page.
Agrawal’s appointment, which boosted Twitter’s stock, cements Indians’ dominance in the fast-paced and high-profile world of Big Tech, which has been dogged by controversies in recent years as social media and internet companies have come to define public perceptions and online viewpoints, much to the chagrin of governments and regulators around the world.

Parag was Dorsey’s “first choice,” according to the much-lauded but divisive Twitter founder, who described him as someone who “truly knows the business and its requirements.”
Except for the fact that he graduated from Mumbai’s Atomic Energy Central School, not much is known about Parag and his personal life.

Parag Agarwal Wife & Family
He is married to Vineeta Agarwala, a venture capitalist and adjunct clinical professor at Stanford Medicine, according to her Twitter page. The couple has a small boy named Ansh, who has his own Twitter account.
Agarwala has impeccable credentials, having graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in biophysics before going on to Harvard Medical School/MIT to get his MD and PhD. She is presently a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, where she oversees investments in medicines, diagnostics, and digital health for the firm’s bio fund.
