What is Swachh iconic place in India?

It is a project of the Swachh Bharat Mission of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. Improved sewage infrastructure, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) installation, drainage facilities, better sanitation facilities, water vending machines, setup of solid and liquid waste management (SLWM), structure restoration, lighting setups, park beautification, road maintenance, and better transportation facilities in approach and access areas aside from at the main sites.

Aims of Swachh iconic place

To raise Swachhata standards for iconic places and the areas around them, for the benefit of all tourists and to ensure that they carry the idea of cleanliness with them when they leave. By raising the standards of sanitation and cleanliness at and around the sites, the initiative hopes to improve both domestic and foreign visitors’ experiences. The goal of SIP is to achieve a noticeably higher level of sanitation/cleanliness at these places, especially on the peripheries and in approach areas. The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, and the relevant State/UT administrations are working together to organise this initiative.
